LG Kiran Bedi launches boating at Velrampet

It is the for the first time in its history, the Velrampet lake saw boating being introduced. 

The introduction of boating commenced with a symbolic boat ride by department heads, police officers, students and local residents. 

The Puducherry Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has deployed. four-seater and two-seater pedal boats and a kayak for boating in the lake. According to a Raj Nivas release here, Bedi left for the lake by cycle from the LG’s residence. 

The revival and transformation of the lake as a tourist destination was a model of good governance and a symbol of the strength of collective working, the Raj Nivas release said. 

The Raj Nivas brought together all government agencies and the community together for the initiative. 

The result was the transformation of the lake, it claimed. It was a dream come true that will benefit the people of Velrampet area and the local community, the release added.
