He also said both the co-ordinator O Panneerselvam and joint co-ordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami have no power to expel any member as per the party laws.

When former chief minister J Jayalalithaa was heading the party action would be taken if the party functionaries spoke against the party or its leadership. “Why should AIADMK take action for speaking against the BJP? The leaders should explain in what way I violated the party’s principle or discipline. My expulsion only shows that CM Palaniswami and his deputy are acting as per directions,” he said.

He added, “I am ready to quit politics if the Centre set up the CMB within the six weeks stipulated by the Supreme Court. Will the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister quit their posts if the Board is not formed?” Palaniswami, who had filed a case with the EC seeking a direction to the AIADMK to hold elections for the general secretary post since the party constitution do not accept the posts of co-ordinator and joint co-ordinator challenged the decision of the AIADMK leaders.

To a question on Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar’s statement that he was removed since an individual could not decide the party’s stand, he asked why action was not taken on AIADMK LS leader P Venugopal, who had told the media that the AIADMK would not support the motion.
