Addressing the interaction programme, the state minister said, “Tamil Nadu has been acclaimed to be an Industrial state as it has enhanced manpower, good industrial environment and surplus power production. Now, the Centre’s move of launching of a Defence corridor has given a brighter chance for more employment opportunities through local investment.”

Sampath further said that the state has already laid foundation in a 260 acre land at Sriperumpudur for an Aerospace Industrial Park. “It may be an ideal facility as the Centre has been encouraging private industries to involve in manufacturing of defence spare parts,” he said.

Hailing the involvement of SMEs in the defence components production, the state Minister urged the Defence Minister to establish the production units for the 5th generation fighter aircraft either in Chennai or Coimbatore as both the places are suitable for such units. “Once the DRDO finalise the spot, the state will provide full support for the development of the facility,” he added.
