Sonia invites Stalin for March 13 dinner

A statement released by the DMK high command said that Sonia Gandhi on Saturday contacted the DMK working president over phone and invited him for the dinner. 

Stalin, who has been appealing to the secular parties to unite against Modi-Shah’s BJP for 2019 Lok Sabha election is most likely to take part in the dinner to be attended by the member of UPA, in which his party is a constituent and a few other parties, which were spurned by the BJP. The dinner invite from Congress comes less than a week after TMC leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had contacted Stalin over phone and proposed the idea of forming an alliance of regional parties against the BJP as well as Congress. 

A reticent, Stalin who had confirmed the invitation from Mamata a few days later said then that they (DMK) were a part of the UPA and the proposal from Banerjee would be discussed in the party’s high-level meeting ahead of the next LS election due in 2019.
