Rameswaram priests condemn cutting of sacred thread

Denouncing the comments of BJP’s H Raja, members of a Dravidian outfit had allegedly cut the sacred thread that some Brahmins wear. The incident created an uproar among members of the community. Condemning it, around 30 priests attached to the Ramanathaswamy temple staged a dharna outside the temple. 

They said the incident hurt their sentiments and severe action should be taken against the accused who had indulged in the act.
