Speaking after his testimony, he said, “I was on duty on September 21. I took Jayalalithaa to the Secretariat for inauguration of new buses and flagging off the metro rail. She was able to flag only 4 out 7 buses off as she was feeling tired. She then recorded a message for the Metro Rail inauguration and came to the car instead of going to the chamber. She asked me to take her to the Poes Garden residence as quickly as possible as she was feeling unwell.”
When questioned if he was present at the time of her hospitalisation on September 22, he said that he had gone off duty at 6 pm and was informed of the news at around 10.10 pm. “I was called to take some essentials to the hospital. She was in emergency at that time. I handed the things over to Poongundran. VK Sasikala, Chief Secretary Ram Mohan Rao, PSO Veeraperumal, DGP Rajendran and Amma’s security were all present. Amma was in a conversation with Dr Sivakumar then. This was between 10.45 to 11pm.”
“She was taken to the hospital in an unconscious state as until then she was insisting on seeing the doctors at her residence. The judge asked me if there were any visible injuries on her head, but I did not see any such thing. She was conscious and speaking to the doctors.”
“I saw her three times in total. On the fourth day she was taken for a CT scan. I saw her then. After that on November 19 noon, I was beside her when she was shifted to the ward.”
“After her death, I was present when the body was brought back to the residence. I tied her toes together during the rituals. There were rumors that her feet were amputated, but that was not true.” Sasikala’s nephew Vivek Jayaraman is to appear on March 9.
