State takes LoP into confidence on CMB meet
DMK working president MK Stalin said that he had accepted the request from the state to put off the proposed special session of Assembly on the formation of Cauvery Management Board (CMB) subject to the outcome of the Cauvery Basin states meeting slated on March 9.

Stalin said Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam over a telephonic conversation sought to know whether the session can be postponed.
“I explained him half of the time frame fixed by the Supreme Court had already lapsed and the meeting might be one of the Centre’s delaying tactics. He requested that we wait until the outcome of March 9 meeting. I agreed,” Stalin said.
Sources said the decision to keep the LoP in the loop was to ensure transparency on the measures taken by the state to secure the rights of the state.
While the decision to convene the Assembly on March 8 was taken unanimously by the ruling dispensation and the Leader of Opposition, the union water resources ministry had called the Chief Secretaries and Water Resources Secretaries of the four river basin states for a meeting.
