Governor Purohit to release book on MGR authored by VIT chancellor

Interacting with the media, Viswanathan said the Governor would also release a book titled ‘Moondruezhuthu Athisayam MGR’ authored by him with the first copies being received by state ministers KC Veeramani, Nilofer Kafeel and Sevoor S Ramachandran and Arakkonam MP G Ravi. Assembly deputy opposition leader and Katpadi MLA Duraimurugan would preside over the event, he added. 

The second day would see the inauguration of an exhibition on the life of the AIADMK founder and former state chief minister with his dark glasses, fur cap and the car he used to be put on display for visitors. In attendance would be former ministers and MLAs associated with MGR, as also luminaries from the field of cinema, in which MGR strode like a colossus, Viswanathan said. 

A debate on whether cinema or politics was responsible for MGR’s popularity and moderated by noted Tamil professor K Gnanasambandam would also be held. 

A total of 45 school in Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts will be provided with tables and chairs worth Rs 50 lakh on the occasion.
