Terming it as a continuous process set in motion by the Union Water Resources Ministry, Jayakumar said that the state has received a communication inviting the chief secretaries and water resources secretaries of the four river basin states - Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Puducherry on implementation of the recent Supreme Court verdict on the CMB formation. He also reposed state’s faith in the union government in this regard.

Meanwhile, breaking the ice with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai on Monday met the PM and greeted him for the electoral victories in the north-eastern states.

Thambidurai, who was attacking the BJP government on various issues, including the Cauvery dispute and NEET turned his ire on Leader of Opposition MK Stalin soon after meeting the Prime Minister in person after about a year. “Who is Stalin to ask for our resignation? Is he our leader? We will stay in Parliament and raise our voice for Tamil Nadu’s rights,” he said.

The meeting comes a day after Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar lashed out at Leader of Opposition Stalin on the issue.
