Advocate, SI clash in police station
A 46-year-old lawyer and a police Sub-Inspector (SI) clashed over issuing receipt for a complaint at the Thattarmadam police station in Thoothukudi district.

The incident happened late on Sunday night when Periyasamy of Puchikadu near Sathankulam, a High Court lawyer, went to Thattarmadam Police Station, representing a complainant in to a land dispute case.Â
Periyasamy was asked to file a complaint but even after registering it no receipt was issued.Â
Periyasamy asked Sub-Inspector Sundaram, to issue a receipt for the complaint but Sundaram refused. Because of this, after a wordy duel Periyasamy and Sundaram started attacking each other violently. In the incident, though both suffered injuries and Periyasamy started bleeding.Â
After Sathankulam DSP Balachandiran’s peace talk, Periyasamy and Sundaram were taken to the Sathankulam GH. After obtaining separate complaints from both of them, separate cases were filed against each other.
