3 killed as car hits two bikes
Three persons were killed and four others severely injured when a car hit two bikes in the wee hours of Sunday near Manikandam on the Tiruchy-Madurai bypass.

Mathirajan (62), Arumugasamy (63) and Karuppasamy (54) were travelling in a car from Madurai with one Santhakumar driving. Students M Arumugam (21), D Anand (18) and Asif (18) as well as couple P Ashokraj (35) and Kanagavalli (34) were waiting on their separate bikes to cross the road when the speeding car hit them. Arumugam died on the spot, while Anand and Kanagavalli succumbed later.
