More than 8 lakh students appear in State Board 12th exams
More than eight lakh plus two students including about 40,000 private candidates in Tamil Nadu appeared for the state board examinations on Wednesday amid tight vigil.

This year the Directorate of Government Examinations have added 278 exam centres compared to previous year.
About 4,000 flying squads and standing squads monitored the exams through out the State in a bid to stop students, who indulge in malpractices.
With education directorate already warned that strict action will be taken against the students those who indulge in malpractices in the exam hall, this year the students were not allowed with shoes, belts and watches to enter the hall.
Education Minister K A Sengottaiyan along with the officials inspected various examination centres in Chennai.
Language papers are being written this year that includes Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, French, German, and Arabic.
Differently-abled students, who were appearing for exams and sought special permission, would be given additional time to finish the test.
