CJ raps police, Corporation officials for not checking illegal flex banners

Taking suo motu cognisance of three letters written by social activist Traffic Ramaswamy about the blatant violations indulged in by the ruling AIADMK along with BJP as a public interest litigation, the first bench comprising Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice Abdul Quddhose directed the removal of the hoardings forthwith and file a report by Monday. 

When the case was taken up for hearing on Thursday, the Chief Justice expressed strong discontent over the way such hoardings were installed. She said “When I was travelling to the airport, I noticed huge hoardings installed on the pavement and road side posing a grave hazard to motorists and pedestrians. Moreover, contrary to the High Court order the hoardings were over seven feet high.” Wondering as to what the Corporation and police authorities were doing, the Chief Justice slammed the authorities and said, “Wherever there is a hoarding, there is a violation.”
