73 inmates take Class 12 exam

Of the 73 who appeared, only 11 were from Puzhal prison. While nine convicts from the Puzhal took the exam, the rest two were remand prisoners, said sources.

Six women inmates from Vellore prison also wrote the examination. 

Though a total of 103 inmates had registered to write the Class 12 examination, only 73 turned up on Thursday. “Many of them are out on bail,” a jail officer said. 

The total number includes 17 inmates from Trichy central prison, 14 from Coimbatore, 8 from Palayamkottai, 7 from Vellore, 4 from Madurai and 3 each from Cuddalore and Salem.
