Railways plans NMR history through pics on wheels

“Often, images of tourist spots in trains don’t evoke interest among passengers. So we hit upon the idea of promoting the local flavour by showcasing heritage photographs of historical importance,” a senior railway official in Salem Division of the Southern Railway told DT Next.  

In an inclusive move, SR has asked people to send in old photos from their collections. “The NMR came into the Salem Division from Palghat division only in 2007. And hence we have very few old photos with historic importance. Though the railways has mooted the plan, it could materialise only if there is contribution from public,” said the official.  

This may be a chance for the people to get their heritage photos featured on railways with credits. The selected photos will also be displayed at the railway museum in Mettupalayam.
