Railway Group D staff allege assault by senior

They sought protection for their life and informed the railway officials that they are under threat from the supporters of senior officer Manivannan. Making the situation worse, the alleged supporters of this officer on Sunday attacked the house of one of the Group-D employees Vipesh V Gopal. The attack had triggered panic among the employees and they reached the divisional office seeking protection. “All of us are from Kerala and this is the third attack on us. They also warned me of dire consequences,” said Vipesh. Earlier, 18 employees of the same category had filed sexual harassment complaint against the senior officer. 

Meanwhile, the union alleged that the administration is shielding the said officer. “Although 18 women have filed a complaint, instead of acting against him, the railway administration tried to transfer the complainants,” said D Manoharan, deputy GS of DREU.
