Fake IAS official held in Salem
A fake IAS officer, who posed as a chief advisor for implementation of central government schemes and held meetings with state government officials, has been arrested by crime branch police in Salem district on Monday.

According to police, L Vijayakumar from Salem impersonated as the chief advisor for implementing central government projects such as Jan Aushadhi Yojana. He also claimed to be the chairman of Prime Minister’s Task Force on National Skill and Research Policy and National Commission on Pharma Sectors Skill Council of India.
The conman is said to have used visiting cards with a government emblem and an email id as idaragovtofindia@gmail.com printed on it. “He held review meetings with government officials at a posh hotel in Salem. None of the government staff doubted him, but the entire show collapsed after Vijayakumar summoned BJP party seniors from nearby districts and sought their help to execute central government projects,” said a cop.
The BJP party men, who grew suspicious, contacted the party headquarters and found him to be a fraud. On receiving a complaint from BJP men, police arrested Vijayakumar from the hotel on Monday.
Inquiries revealed that an arrest warrant is pending against Vijayakumar, a wanted accused for impersonating as project director of ‘Valar Kalvi Thittam’ and extracting money from senior government officials in Salem district in 2003. He was also involved in job scams by posing as a government official in Chennai. Further inquiries are on.
