Politician Kamal’s 1st social crusade may be Neduvasal
Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan is said to have requested his party functionaries to make requisite arrangements for him to visit Neduvasal in Pudukkottai district where the citizens have been staging a protest against a planned hydrocarbon project.

The visit is expected to take place on April 4, the same day of the second public meeting of the Makkal Needhi Maiam in Tiruchy. Kamal will visit the districts of Tiruchy, Perambur, Pudukkottai and Ariyalur as well.
When contacted, Kamal’s spokesperson confirmed that the visit to Neduvasal is being planned, but added that the dates are yet to be confirmed and that his entire ‘yatra’ schedule would be out soon.
After the launch of his party in Madurai, Kamal has also held meetings with the district secretaries and the high-level committee of the Makkal Needhi Maiam at his office in Alwarpet. The agenda for the meeting was the next step to be taken with regard to the Naalai Namadhe journey and the adoption of villages to create models.
Kamal had previously tweeted in support of farmers of Neduvasal and was vocal in his opposition of the hydrocarbon project at a function organised by the Coordination Committee of Tamil Nadu All Farmers Association in November last year.
The MNM Party President has also put forth a series of requests to his party members, a source said. He asked the members not to wear karai veshti, an attire that has gained notoriety through the political connotations involved.
He has also informed members to hoist flags of the Makkal Needhi Maiam at every village in every district. He has directed the members not to put up any banners or posters that violate the guidelines issued by the police. Lastly, he has said that he hopes the party members will work to make the meeting in Tiruchy a bigger success than the one held in Madurai.
Kamal also released another video titled ‘Rise to the occasion’ on social media on Saturday evening.
