Plea seeks probe into theft at Srirangam temple
The Madras High Court has been moved seeking to register a case on the complaint made to the Inspector General of Police, Idol Theft Wing in connection with theft of idols, doors, other antiquities in Ranganathaswamy temple at Srirangam.

Justice MS Ramesh before whom the petition filed by Rangarajan Narasimhan of Sanathana Dharma/ Sri Vaishnavism of Sri Rangam came up for hearing directed the Government Pleader to get instructions on the above complaint and posted the matter for further hearing to March 02.
Rangarajan submitted that on October 13, 2017 he gave a complaint at the Srirangam Police Station about ex-facie theft of idols, doors and other antiquities in Ranganathaswamy temple at Srirangam. But the Sub-inspector without assigning any reasons refused to register the FIR. Even with no response coming forth from the Police Commissioner despite handing over the plea in person and sending via e-mail and post, there was neither any communication nor FIR registered till date.
He also noted that on coming to know that the Madras High Court has specially designated the Inspector General of Police, to investigate Idol thefts in Tamil Nadu, he approached the High Court seeking for a direction to register the FIR on his complaint.
