Celebrity or leader, who’ll Modi meet this time in TN?
With Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to spend the night at Raj Bhavan on Saturday, his first since becoming PM, all eyes are on his engagements for the evening which still remains unscheduled.

Known to be a man who spins last minute surprises like he did when he visited TN last and met M Karunanidhi, speculation is rife on who he would meet. AIADMK functionaries belonging to deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam’s faction said their leader had sought an appointment with the Prime Minister at Raj Bhavan, but the PM is yet to respond to the request.
Sources said that OPS camp awaits an intervention from the PM to bring an end to the simmering conflict in the party despite the merger of the factions. However, party leaders said they are not aware of any personal appointment sought by the CM.
However, he did not rule out the possibility of the Chief Minister making a courtesy call at Raj Bhavan or meeting the Prime Minister on issues concerning the state. Even as there is speculation of a possible Modi-Rajini meet, sources close to the actor claimed that it is unlikely since it would lend credence to the allegations that the former is launching a party only at the behest of Modi.
“The actor does not want to acquire a Hindutva tag to his new party by meeting Modi at a time when he is building the party organisation. However, we do not know what decision will Rajinikanth take if he is invited by the Prime Minister for a meeting,” sources close to him said.
