Tahsildar suspended on bribe charge
A Tahsildar in Namakkal was suspended after he was caught by Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) while receiving bribe from a truck owner.

The tahsildar, K Balakrishnan (48) of Namakkal, who was involved in vehicle check a few days ago on the Salem-Namakkal National Highway had stopped a sand laden truck proceeding towards Rasipuram.
He then demanded Rs 10,000 to release the truck. Following this, the truck driver approached the DVAC sleuths, who trapped Balakrishnan by giving chemical laced notes. Meanwhile the Namakkal District Collector M Asia Mariam on Thursday issued an order suspending the Tahsildar, who is now lodged in the Salem Central Prison.
