Kamal meets Vijayakanth, refutes BJP's claims on spiritual politics
Ahead of embarking his political journey on Wednesday, actor Kamal Haasan called on Dravidian Patriarch and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi last night and DMDK Founder and actor-politician Vijayakanth.
Chennai
Kamal had yesterday met his friend and fellow actor Rajinikanth, before meeting Mr Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuram residence late in the evening and sought his blessings for his political journey.
Today morning, he drove down to the DMDK office at Koyambedu and met Vijayakanth.
Later, talking to reporters, he dropped enough hints that his party's policy would be influenced by the Dravidian ideology.
Kamal, actor-turned-politician, said he would succeed in his political journey by following Dravidian policies.
"It has been long since I met Vijayakanth. He (Vijayakanth) once said that he was senior to me in politics and I wanted to get his wishes before I float my party. I also enquired him about his health," Kamal said.
Asked about BJP leaders' remarks that only spiritual politics would win in Tamil Nadu, he said 'I will win with Dravidian policies'.
Kamal has been meeting several leaders ahead of the launch of his new party and flag on February 21.
He has so far met Chief Ministers of Kerala and Delhi, Pinarayi Vijayan and Arvind Kejriwal respectively, besides former Chief Election Commissioner T N Seshan and Veteran CPI leader R Nallakannu.
