PMK’s shadow budget for panel to boost revenue
The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) on Saturday released the shadow budget for 2018-19 and suggested many ideas to make Tamil Nadu debt-free.
Chennai
The budget urged the government to form a committee for increasing revenue. “It is a fact that the revenue in the last five years has steadily plummeted. A total of Rs 67,000 crore of state’s own tax revenue has reduced during 2013-14 and 2017-18,” it said.
The state government achieved the target of revenue only in the TASMAC, the budget added. To eliminate the confusions and corruptions in the tax collections and to increase the revenue, a civil servant will be appointed to submit recommendations.
According to the shadow budget, the civic polls will be conducted in May 2018 and Rs 600 crore will be allotted to the State Election Commission for it. To contain bribing for vote, a committee, headed by the CM, will be formed and the committee will meet Centre and Election Commission, the budget said. It also demanded removal portrait of former CM J Jayalalithaa from the Assembly.
