    48-page release lists CM Palaniswami’s achievements

    Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Friday said he had cleared 5,208 files besides launching as many as 35,819 completed projects worth over Rs 11,827 crore and laying foundation for as many as 6,411 new projects worth over Rs 8,837 crore, while reeling out a long list of milestones accomplished by his government on the first anniversary of assuming office.

    The disclosure came in a 48-page release, which was akin to a souvenir prepared for the occasion, from the Secretariat, which included the projects inaugurated during MGR centenary celebrations.  Cluster farming scheme for kuruvai and samba cultivation at a cost of Rs 98 crore to benefit delta farmers, while according permission to tap ‘Neera’ from coconut and paying up subsidy towards crop insurance premium at Rs 428 crore in 2016-2017, among others figured in the list of achievements in the Agriculture Department. The regime also boasts of having retrieved as many as 26 boats confiscated by Sri Lanka. On the power production front, the state has graduated to the ‘b’ category from ‘c.’ Kudimaramathu, Palaniswami’s pet project, was reportedly completed in 30 districts.  

    TACTV’s DAS licence, using of drones to map encroachments on water bodies, proposed Amma two wheeler scheme, building a memorial at final resting place of Jayalalithaa, a memorial for Dr B Sivanthi Aditanar in Tiruchendur and construction of MGR Centenary arch, among others, were found in the list.
