The boat, owned by a person called Richard from Rameswaram, had gone  with four fishermen for fishing on Monday, and had returned on Tuesday night. According to the fishermen, when they were fishing near Katchatheevu, the Lankan Navy issued a warning for fishing in the area and when they tried to return, a Lankan Navy ship rammed their boat.

In the incident, the front portion of the boat was damaged. The four fishermen in the boat also suffered injuries and on reaching the coast they were admitted to a hospital.

    Lanka to free 113 fishermen

The Sri Lankan government has decided to release 113 TN fishermen from prisons there. The fishermen would be taken to courts and the release orders obtained. Though the fishermen leaders expected the Lankan government to take the fishermen to court on Wednesday, it didn’t happen because of political confusion in the country.

The fishermen expect that they would be produced in court on Thursday, and their release would be processed in the coming days.
