Wife immolates self, man dies in rescue bid

Suresh (40) a resident of KK Nagar here and the lorry owners’ association president of Goodshed, Tiruchy, reportedly had a verbal tiff with his wife Sathya (35) on Wednesday evening that lasted until late in the night. 

During the heated argument, Sathya poured kerosene on herself and threatened that she would immolate herself. But Suresh believed that it was just a prank and was watching it nonchalantly. Suddenly, Sathya lit a match and burnt herself. 

Immediately, Suresh attempted to douse his blazing wife. But by the time, the flames had engulfed him as well and both sustained severe burns. Both were rushed to the GH. Around 12.30 am, Sathya died, while Suresh succumbed a few hours later. Further investigations are underway.
