Man held for assaulting Kalasapakkam MLA dies in Vellore govt hospital

Initially he was lodged in Vellore jail and was later shifted to the hospital after he complained of medical issues. Doctors after finding bleeding in his brain conducted an operation on January 25. Subsequently, he slipped into a coma and succumbed on Wednesday.

Manikandan, a stage decorator was reportedly owed money by Paneerselvam for previous jobs. An agitated Manikandan assaulted the MLA at a marriage hall in Polur, before he was pulled away and beaten by the legislator’s supporters.

Meanwhile, relatives of Manikandan demanded a police case to be registered against Paneerselvam and his supporters. They blocked traffic near Polur Bus stand. Police personnel were posted near the MLAs house to prevent any untoward incident, even as investigations continue.
