Sivan was visiting his native place for the first time after taking charge of his new appointment on January 15. He participated in various functions organised in different places, including the school and college where he studied.
Delivering his address at S T Hindu College in Nagercoil, where he studied BSc (Mathematics), Sivan said that he was an average student and did not excel in his studies while studying in the college.
“So, students who are average and below average should not worry too much. If they are focused on their aim, they will definitely be successful,” he said. Sivan also exhorted students to listen to their professors as by doing so, they can reach new heights in their life. “No matter what level you reach, you should not forget your teachers”, he said.
Following that, he participated in a felicitation function held in Government Higher Secondary School in Vallankumaran village in Kanniyakumari district, where he had completed his plus two. While addressing the students he said that he had studied in Tamil medium and had succeeded in his life. “There is a general perception that students studying in government schools will not succeed in life which is not true.”
Later in the evening, he was facilitated at government primary school in Sarakkalvilai, where he completed his primary schooling.
