In a statement here, Dinakaran said former chief minister J Jayalalithaa had protected the state from NEET, but after her death, the NEET examination had damaged the medical education dreams of poor people in Tamil Nadu.

The government under Edappadi K Palaniswami had turned the rights of states into a questionable object and the NEET examination based on CBSE had become a big setback to state students.

The death of Ariyalur student Anita remains fresh in the minds of people, but the Centre had announced that NEET would be held on May 6 for medical admissions in Tamil Nadu. The government instead of opposing it had opened coaching centres, that too only for advertisements, he remarked.

The state had not taken any measure to cancel the NEET or exempt TN from it. It had also not taken any step to ensure that questions would be based on the state syllabus, Dinakaran said.

“State must be exempted from NEET or questions must be based on state syllabus.” Dinakaran called for an early action and said, “The state must not wait till the eleventh hour or give false promises.”

    TTV visits Vibuthi Siddhar

Meanwhile, Dinakaran’s secret visit to the Mahadevamalai near Gudiyattam on Thursday has his supporters worried.  Sources said a prominent hotel owner was asked to guide him to Mahadevalmalai to seek the blessings of the Mahananda Vibuthi Siddhar.   His supporters said that three years ago when VK Sasikala visited the same siddhar, it resulted in her imprisonment.
