Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar has said the ruling AIADMK is ready to face any actor, including DMK working president MK Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi and warned that politics is like an ocean in which a few could swim and reach the shore.

“Anyone can jump into politics, but only a few can swim and reach the shore. The AIADMK had successfully faced all the political challenges,” he said while speaking to reporters on Monday.

Udhayanidhi, in an interview to a website, had said he is a member of the DMK even before he became an actor and said in that sense he is already in politics. “At a time when many actors are taking up active politics, it is time for me too to engage in active politics,” the film producer-cum-actor had said.

Jayakumar also ridiculed actor Kamal Haasan’s promise of digitalising the state administration and said the state had digitalised several departments in 2001 itself. “If Kamal Haasan did not know about this, he can call me over phone and ask about it.”

Strongly denying Stalin’s charges of corruption in government contracts, he said there is transparency in all the contracts during the AIADMK government. The Minister asked Stalin to be specific on his corruption charges and move the court if he had any evidence.

He further said the government took the decision to increase the bus fare with a heavy heart, since the move was inevitable.
