Based on a complaint from the parents of the boy, the city police registered a case against three doctors, identified as Dharmendra, Vinoth and Kannadasan, of a private hospital in Ram Nagar in Coimbatore.

The boy Vishnu, son of Vinod Kumar, 38, an engineer from Shanmugapuram in Dindigul district was admitted to the SGR Hospital in Kaattoor a few months ago after he complained of pain in the abdomen.

He was then operated upon in September last year. Even after the surgery, the pain did not subside and the boy also developed serious urinary complications. Concerned over their son’s condition, the parents took him to the same hospital again.

The doctors took a scan and prescribed medicine to reduce the pain. As there was no signs of recovery, the boy was taken to another hospital in Tiruchy, where doctors examined and found cotton and cloth in his stomach.

Again a surgery was performed to remove them. Later, family members of the boy submitted a petition to the City Police Commissioner K Periaiah, who ordered an inquiry.

Following this, the police registered a case against the doctors on Thursday.
