Chennai has 38 lakh voters out of TN’s 5.86 crore electorate
Tamil Nadu has 5.86 crore voters, including 2.96 female voters, 2.90 crore male voters and 5,197 voters belonging to the third gender, said Election Commission of India.

Shozhinganallur assembly constituency in Kancheepuram district has the highest number of voters (6,24,365 electors - male: 3,13,818; female: 3,10,471; third gender: 76) while Kanniyakumari constituency has the highest number of young voters, i.e., within the age group of 18-19 (7,133 voters out of which there are 3,913 men, 3,219 women and one voter belonging to third gender). Harbour seat has the lowest number of voters with 1,65,610 electors (86,641 men; 78,921 women and 48 third gender voters). The state also has 407 overseas electorate.
During the period for revision of rolls between Oct 3 and Dec 15, a total of 6,16,741 applications were received for inclusion of names and 5,88,396 applications were admitted.
About 14,91,857 deletions have been made due to shifting, death and duplicate entries. Totally, 1,96,656 applications were received for correction of entries, of which 1,60,713 were admitted. For transposition of entries within the constituencies, 66,953 applications were received and 61,410 have been admitted.
In Chennai, D Karthikeyan, Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation, released the electoral rolls on Wednesday for 16 assembly constituencies. The city has a total of 38,01,919 voters, comprising 18,76,652 men, 19,24,366 women and 901 third gender voters.
More women in 7 Kovai segments
COIMBATORE: Women outnumbered men in seven of the total 10 constituencies in Coimbatore district. Currently the city has 28, 29,570 voters, including 14, 02,986 men, 14, 26,298 women and 286 others. Women have surpassed men by 23,312 voters. In the 11 constituencies in Salem district, there are 28, 31, 718 voters.
Men dominate Tirupattur rolls
VELLORE: A total of 30.51 lakh voters are in 13 assembly segments in Vellore. This includes 15.52 lakh women and 14.98 lakh men and 107 transgenders, said district Collector SA Raman. Tirupattur was the only constituency where men outnumbered women. While male numbered 1,11,608, women were only 1,11,355.
