Won’t call off strike, say unions
Hours after the Madras High Court ordered them to call of their two-day old strike, which has caused hardship to public, transport corporation unions today said their agitation would continue till their demands on wage revision were met by the Tamil Nadu government.

Even after transport minister M R Vijayabhaskar warned of legal actions against those transport workers, who do not resume duties, the union leaders did not change their stance and said that the strike would continue.
In a joint press meet on Friday, the union leaders from Labour Progressive Federation, CITU and other unions said, “We did not receive any court order to withdraw our strike so we will continue with it.”
They said that the government should disburse of Rs 7 crore as arrears.
“Our transport minister claims that only around Rs 5 crore should be provided to workers, but he should know that Rs 5 crore should be provided to existing employees and Rs 2 crore should be given
to retired employees,” a union leader said.
A Soundararajan, president of state transport employees federation, M Shanmugam, general secretary of LPF and other union leaders participated in the meeting.
