    Claiming that representation has not been given to states in the proposed National Medical Commission despite it having 25 members, more than the number suggested by Ranjit Roy Chowdry committee, Stalin said the Centre should respect the sentiments of protesting doctors, medical aspirations of rural students the rights of states to improve rural health care and immediately withdraw the Bill. He also alleged that National Medical Commission Bill has been designed against social justice principles and interest of poor-rural students. 

    Objecting to various amendments proposed to the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 2017 by the Centre, Stalin said the ruling BJP should understand that the Centre-State ties could not be streamlined if the Centre acted like a ‘big brother’ and usurped state’s rights. 

    Stalin asked the Centre to save fireworks industry He urged the Centre to consider the industry’s demand and exempt its produce from Environment Protection Act.

    Earlier in the day, a delegation of DMK MPs petitioned union surface transport industries minister Nitin Gadkari asking him to drop the proposed amendment to exclude tractors from agricultural purposes.
