Tamilisai wants Rajini to align with BJP for 2019 elections
Revealing her expectations on Rajinikanth entering politics, BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan said on Sunday that the actor will have a truck only with her party for the 2019 elections.

She clarified that it was only her wish and that his entry would not dampen the prospects of her party. “It requires more hands to fight the corruption following RK Nagar bypoll. Our party had been firm that corruption should be removed from the society. We would pit the fight against corruption as our only poll plank. We have already been providing corruption-free government at the Centre. Such being the case, the actor might as well support the BJP. And it is my opinion”.“ I greet Rajini for his bold announcement to enter politics and his fans who had been anticipating such an announcement. I appreciate his agenda on weeding out corruption from the system,” she said.
People will decide on Rajini
Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy opined that anybody can enter politics while people would act as the ultimate judge to Rajini’s political entry. “Public mandate is required for any party to accrue to power. People of Tamil Nadu are known to follow Periyar’s principles, and always rationalise with everything they come across. Dravidianism is prevalent in the state,” Narayanasamy observed. “BJP is hell-bent onusurping the state’s power in vain. It is an open secret as how the ruling BJP at the Centre is holding the ruling dispensation in the State for ransom. They would never be able to take roots in the state,” Narayanasamy said.
Let Tamils rule TN
Naam Tamilar Katchi(NTK) coordinator Seeman condemned Rajini’s entry into politics, and wanted only Tamils to rule Tamil Nadu, while blaming BJP of fielding the actor as a proxy. “Where was Rajini when NEET claimed Anitha’s life and Cyclone Ockhi wreaked havoc on the lives of our people? We would vehemently oppose Rajiini in politics. Rajini doesn’t even know the heritage of Tamils,” he said. Seeman remarked that Rajini’s entry would only make the state a laughing stock.
Yechury asks Rajini to ‘first define his policies’
Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Sunday asked superstar Rajinikanth, who earlier in the day announced that he was set to join politics, to define his policies and the changes he had talked about. The CPM leader said, “The issue is not whether film stars can enter politics or not. The point is Rajinikanth has now announced that he is entering politics. It is too early to say in which direction it will go. But what are the policies and issues? That have to be made clear before we can actually make an assessment of what impact they will have on Tamil Nadu politics as well as India. He is asking for changes in which direction? This question we also want to ask him. All of us agree that change is needed, but change in which direction?”
