Rajinikanth likely to announce movement in run up to politics

This was the 67-year-old actor’s response when media persons repeated the question that they had been asking him for about 25 years.

This, however, coupled with the assertion of those who met him and hysteria among fans have led many to believe that Rajinikanth has finally made up his mind to enter politics.

Some of his jubilant fans claimed that he would launch a movement on December 31, which will take the form of a political party later. Confirming this Gandhian People’s Movement leader Thamizharuvi Manian said, “For 25 years, people in Tamil Nadu have been debating if Rajinikanth will enter politics. The answer is that he will take a plunge into politics and will announce it himself on December 31.”

Manian, who had met the actor several times had earlier stated that Rajinikanth would form his own party and not align with any other political party.

Rajinikanth, who has been criticised by Tamil nationalist groups who brand him as an outsider said, “I am a Madrasee. For me Chennai is always Madras”.

The actor also spoke about his dreams and plans of achieving them. “There is nothing wrong in dreaming about an objective. But, one should try to achieve the dream in an honest way without trying shortcuts,” said Rajinikanth. “There should be no regrets if a dream is not realised even after using honest means. But no one will be respected if they try to realise their dreams by using shortcuts,” he added.

On the first day of his six-day interaction, the actor had said that he would let people know whether he will enter politics or not on December 31.
