Man barges into office, hacks wife in Pudukai

The incident happened at 10.30 am when the accused identified as Udayakumar from Thanjavur barged into an auditor office at Kattumavadi where his wife, Saranya, was working. On seeing him, Saranya panicked and tried to escape but was intercepted by Udayakumar and hacked.

On hearing Saranya’s screams her colleagues rushed to the room and immediately called the ambulance. She was taken to Arantangi GH, provided first aid and then rushed to Pudukottai GH. Meanwhile, Udayakumar was caught by her colleagues and was handed over to Aranthangi police.

Police got a statement from Saranya at the Pudukottai GH and carried out investigation at the auditor’s office. Sources said that Udayakumar and Saranya got married two years ago and have a girl child. Of late, Udayakumar began to suspect his wife’s fidelity.

This had resulted in frequent quarrels between the couple. Saranya therefore came to live with her mother at Aranthangi along with her child.
