Acquitted in 2G case,A Raja starts TN tour
Barely a week since his acquittal in the 2G case, former telecom minister A Raja has started an election-style campaign to increase the popularity of the DMK. After visiting his native Perambalur, the next pit stop Raja made was in The Nilgiris, the constituency which had sent him to the Parliament in 2009.

The former Niligiri MP on Wednesday spent a day in the hill town, not only listing out his contribution to the constituency, but also announcing that he would seek re-election from hill town in 2019. He also used the opportunity to ‘demystify’ the 2G case to voters, living up to his reputation as the propaganda secretary of the DMK.
Retreating from the hill station, Raja spent Thursday at the textile hub of Tirupur, where he addressed people from an open jeep, again speaking at length about the spectrum case. An atheist Raja, who played truant during most elections (except his) since his arrest in 2011, reiterated his intention to seek reelection from The Nilgiris.
If sources are to be believed, Raja could visit more districts in the coming weeks, understandably, to popularise his and Kanimozhi’s acquittal and reduce the hate quotient of the party. A DMK senior, who confirmed his tour said, “His visits will help build positive public opinion about the party. People will understand better when Raja explains the case personally.
It is good for us.” “It is essential for Raja to meet and enlighten the misinformed cadre first as a good number of party men, other than those in his native Perambalur, had once blamed him for the party’s electoral setbacks. His eloquence will captivate and motivate such cadre,” a district secretary remarked, referring to one such vitriol of Raja in Dharmapuri where he lambasted the ‘informed’ Left for targeting the DMK in the 2G case.
Raja compared the 2G spectrum case to the story of four blind men and an elephant.
“Various probe agencies, media and opposition political parties dubbed 2G as a Himalayan scam without proper understanding of the issue for political mileage,” he said.
