Probe Panel tells Vetrivel to submit all videos

Vetrivel had caused high-drama across the state last week, claiming responsibility for releasing a video of Jayalalithaa sipping juice on hospital bed, just before the crucial RK Nagar by-election. The Justice has asked the ex-MLA to submit all video evidence he has regarding the case to the Commission of Inquiry. VK Sasikala had earlier been given 15 days to submit all documents and information she had regarding Jayalalithaa’s hospitalisation and her subsequent death. 

Earlier, the Commission had lodged a complaint against Vetrivel for releasing the video by N Panneerselvam, secretary to the Commission. The complaint states that the release of such a video in the public domain without it having been submitted either to the inquiry commission or the Election Commission is in violation of the Commission of Inquiry Act and Rules. It also quoted that the release of the video degrades the standing of the Commission. Questions have been raised by the Commission with regard to the authenticity of the video and the timing of its release, terming it ‘morphed’. 

It further adds that this act by Vetrivel was done with the motive of not only interfering with the functioning of the Commission but also for creating panic, besides instigating clashes. 

Meanwhile, the Commission, which was earlier ordered to file their findings by end of December, has also been given an extension of six months.
