Woman cop books false case against minor, arrested

According to sources, problems erupted during the Muthumariamman Temple festival in April in Allikulam village near Pudukkottai in Thoothukudi district. There arose a dispute between two groups of people and a clash followed. Cases were booked against all those involved in the clash at the Pudukkottai All Woman Police station.

However, it is said that a case was booked against a 14-year-old boy too. Villagers protested against this and the police dropped his name from the FIR. Despite that, the boy’s parents demanded the Thoothukudi SP to take action against Inspector, Santhakumari, for booking the false case.

Following that, the parents approached the court and obtained an order against Santhakumari. The court directed the Thoothukudi Central Police to book a case against Santhakumari, which did so under Sections 166 and 166 A of the IPC and are investigating the incident.
