Tiruchy Collector insists on strict adherence to rules during jallikattu
The Collector ordered every department officials to personally supervise and make sure that all safety measures are strictly adhered to by the organisers while conducting the event.

Tiruchy district Collector organised jallikattu preparedness meeting here on Friday. The organisers sought permission to conduct the sport in more number of villages this time. He also said that the participants should strictly adhere to rules and regulations and prior registration is a must.
T Ondy Raj, state secretary of the Jallikattu welfare association said that as more number of people were supporting the sport this time, the number of events has increased. Despite time constraints, the district administration was able to host all the events, adhering to regulations, in the previous season.
However, this time, more number of villages have sought permission and the district administration would decide on this, he said.
So far, villages including N-Pulammedu, Pothametuppatti, Karunggulam, Kalingapatti, and several other villages in Thuraiyur and Marungapuri blocks have sought permission for hosting the event during January 2018.
District Collector K Rajamani ordered the officials and the villagers to prepare the venues with proper precautionary measures such as double barricade set up, emergency exit, proper medical care for the bull and the tamers. He also stated that the venues and galleries should have all basic amenities for the spectators.
