PMK founder president S Ramadoss said, “It is shocking that all the accused have been released. The Special Judge of CBI OP Saini has been hearing the case for the last six years, but has given a one-line verdict. Still there is no full judgment.”

He wondered what happened to the letter then prime minister Manmohan Singh and the union finance ministry wrote to former telecom minister Raja to allocate the spectrum properly. “Such a verdict forces us to recall the fate of Sarkaria Commission report,” he noted.

CPM state secretary G Ramakrishnan said, “Since the CBI case and prosecution has proved inadequate, steps must be taken immediately to pursue the matter legally, so that those who are guilty are punished.”

Meanwhile, VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan demanded action against then Comptroller and Auditor General Vinod Rai. “Since Raja is a Dalit face, media attacked him with an ulterior motive and criminal charges should be pressed against Rai,” he said.

Similarly, R Mutharasan, state secretary of CPI, said, “Justice has been done. Though delayed, we welcome the verdict.”
