TN governor visits Meenakshi temple, but no review meeting
Amid repeated protests and controversies over his inspections in several parts of the state, Governor Banwarilal Purohit chose to play it safe in Madurai. He did not carry out any inspection in Madurai. He participated in the convocation function at Alagappa University at Karaikudi, on Wednesday.

He visited the Meenakshi Amman Temple. Madurai Collector K Veera Raghava Rao, who accompanied him explained to him about the importance of the temple. After offering prayers, the Governor proceeded to preside over the 30th convocation function at Alagappa University in Karaikudi.
Being the Chancellor of the University, the Governor handed over degrees to 294 students including 156 research scholars.
At the function, vice-chancellor, Subbiah elaborated about the performance and achievements of the University in the previous academic year.
KP Anbazhagan, State Minister for Higher Education, who is also the pro-chancellor of the university, delivered an address. After the convocation function, Governor left for Tiruchirappalli.
Black flags
Meanwhile, DMK cadres waited with black flags at Karaikudi to wave at the Governor, if he carried out an inspection. It was because there were rumours that the Governor would carry out inspections and the cleaning works at Karaikudi.
Barwalilar Purohit, unlike his predecessors, does not remain confined to his office but actively carries out inspection at various cities, including Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Cuddalore and so on.
However his inspection had received flak from the opposition parties as they claimed that the Governor had violated constitutional provisions.
