Vellore Cooperative Sugar Mill Chairman ousted from post
A Kumar, Chairman of the Vellore Cooperative Sugar Mill was removed from his post by state Directorate of Sugar officials, at a special Executive Committee meeting on Monday.
Vellore
Kumar belongs to the AIADMK’s sidelined Deputy General Secretary TTV Dinakran’s faction, while the majority of the 17 members support the ruling dispensation. The term of all Cooperative bodies in Tamil Nadu ends in March next year.
The ouster move started when 12 EC members led by M Anandan individually submitted signed affidavits to the Sugar Directorate on November 7, demanding a new chairman as they had lost faith in A Kumar. The Directorate received the letters on November 22, following which, Assistant Director (Sugar), M Mohan Mala chaired a special Executive Committee meeting on Monday, in which the members reiterated their earlier stand demanding Kumar’s removal as they had lost faith in him. Of the 17 members, 12 opposed Kumar. A special resolution was then passed removing Kumar from his post.Â
The opponents then submitted a letter signed by all of them requesting that a new chairman be elected to the post soon.
