NCTE draws flak for allowing teaching institute in godown
Taking strong exception to National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE) officials granting permission for the conduct of a teachers training institute in a godown by Achariya College of Education in Puducherry, the Madras High Court has directed NCTE to give the list of officials who had originally inspected the premises and offered approval as well as the ones who had subsequently inspected.

Justice N Kirubakaran on noting that the said college does not have any approved plan and without even getting plan approval of the building, which was used as a godown, said if NCTE failed to offer the details of the officials involved along with their present position, the Director, NCTE, shall appear before this court on December 21.
The judge also directed the Pondicherry University to give the list of officials, who had inspected the premises of the college in 1995 to give affiliation and thereafter for continuation of affiliation before this court along with the details of their present position, failing which, the vice-chancellor, Pondicherry University, shall appear before this court on December 21.
Achariya College of Education had moved the plea seeking to quash an order of the Puducherry University, rejecting the affiliation for the academic year 2017-18. It had contended that the University rejected the affiliation by a non-speaking order totally ignoring the 566 pages compliance report. Further the University gave a vague reasoning namely affiliation will be granted only after the college was shifted to a new building with the permission from NCTE.
