CS hospitalised, Finance Secretary in-charge

Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan has been admitted to a hospital here and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami met her and enquired about her health on Sunday.

As she remains hospitalised, it is learnt that the state has asked Finance Secretary K Shanmugam to be in-charge as Chief Secretary, until she joins duty. Sources said the interim arrangement came into effect on Sunday and will be in vogue as long as it is required. Shanmugam, whose rank is additional CS, will be holding the CS post in addition to his Finance posting. Sources said that the arrangement was put in place for smooth governance.
