Jaya was critical when admitted: Pratap Reddy
It may be recalled that the former chief minister was admitted on September 23 last year, with ‘fever.’ Despite two-and-a-half months of hospitalisation and treatment, she succumbed on December 5, 2016, after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Even though the initial press statements on former chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s health - right after she was admitted- said that she only had a fever, she was admitted in a critical condition, said Dr Prathap C Reddy, Executive Chairman, Apollo Group of Hospitals.
Addressing a press conference at the Apollo Children’s Hospital on Saturday, he said, “To avoid panic, we stated that she had a simple fear. We could not speak the truth to avoid problems pertaining to law and order.” However, stating that he has not received any summons yet about the inquiry in progress, Dr Reddy said that he is not aware of any summons received by other doctors of the Apollo Hospitals. “The case is on and therefore, I cannot talk about it. However, we have no problems about receiving summons,” he added.
