As RK Nagar race hots up, OPS, EPS mount attack on TTV

As former MP TTV Dinakaran’s ‘pressure cooker’ has started whistling around RK Nagar, which goes to polls on December 21, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Saturday, who was ignoring the former so far, charged his rival with splitting the AIADMK votes with the objective of facilitating a DMK win.

The Chief Minister, who started his campaign with the question who is Dinakaran, spent considerable time on his rival. Borrowing a popular slogan from DMDK leader Vijayakanth, the Chief Minister said, “We are having alliance with the people, while Dinakaran has joined hands with the DMK. Dinakaran is conspiring to help the DMK win the bypoll. People of RK Nagar should send him home by defeating him,” he said addressing an election rally at New Washermenpet.

Pointing out that Dinakaran is fighting against “Two Leaves’ symbol of party leaders MGR and J Jayalalithaa, the Chief Minister said Dinakaran is trying to dissolve ‘Amma’s government.’ Palaniswami also lashed out at DMK working president MK Stalin and said he had done nothing for the constituency when the DMK was in power. He also promised to convert RK Nagar into a model constituency if the AIADMK is voted to power. The Chief Minister pointed out that only the AIADMK which is the ruling party could solve the problems of the constituency.

Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam too joined the tirade and pleaded with the voters to defeat Dinakaran to prevent the AIADMK from falling into the hands of a family. He also appealed to the people not to trust Dinakaran by looking at his face and reminded that Dinakaran himself had said he had another face.

However, Dinakaran alleged that the AIADMK is distributing money to the voters as it feared that it would lose the deposit in the bypoll. “People will take the cash, but defeat the ruling party as they know it is earned by cheating former chief minister J Jayalalithaa,” he asserted.
