6-year-old girl dies after school van topples

Sources said 13 schoolchildren were travelling in the Omni van to their school and when it was nearing Kamatchipatti village, the van lost control. The driver failed to manoeuvre a roadside pit deftly and it led to the mishap. Meanwhile, local residents rushed to the spot and helped to rescue the children.

Five, out of the 13, sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the Musiri Government Hospital from where they were referred to Tiruchy Government Hospital and a private hospital. But in the afternoon, six-year-old M Tejashri failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed to injuries.
