ATM thieves remanded in custody
An eight-member gang of ATM thieves, caught after a hot chase and by deploying a helicam, was remanded in judicial custody and lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison on Friday.

The members of the gang hailing from Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh were caught in Salem and Namakkal districts. Police also seized two cars, a lorry, pistol, gas cutters and other instruments. The gang is suspected to be involved in ATM heists in other states also.
Police said they are on the lookout for the mastermind of the gang, who had escaped with the loot. Meanwhile, police have moved the court seeking their custody for 10 days to grill them about their network. City Police Commissioner K Periaiah and West Zone IG A Pari appreciated the special teams for nabbing the culprits.
